Your feet are the foundation of your body. Think about how much they work for you. They carry you around all day and most of the time you have them crammed into shoes designed to “support” them. The word “support” usually means not allowing them to move the way they were designed to move.
This creates very stiff, inflexible feet. What happens with your feet then affect your ankles. Do you have weak ankles? Do they tend to roll too much causing balance issues? What then happens to your knees? Often knee pain actually originates with what you are doing or not doing with your feet.
So I guess the childhood jingle about ankle bone connected to the knee bone is right on!!!!
When Teresa Tapp came out with her Finger and Foot Fitness DVD in 2007, I was delighted. Losing lots of inches in a surprisingly short amount of time is why most of us come to T-Tapp. But getting relief from foot (and knee, hip…) pain is certainly a fantastic side affect.
I remember doing this workout at the Retreat when this DVD was filmed and it absolutely blew me away. While we were doing it, it HURT! You can definitely feel it! But when we were done and I left the workout room, I remember thinking it felt like I was walking on pillows. The change was dramatic.
Today in class, we took off our shoes and did some of the toe stretches like the ones I share in the video. We were all groaning while we did it the first time. Second time on each foot was a little better. We then went on and completed our workout.
Before we put our shoes back on to leave, I had us all do the toe stretches one more time. No one cramped! The pain was gone. This was experienced by everyone in the room!!! It was profound.
And we all felt so much better. It was obvious we had all loosened up our tight feet and pumped a ton of junk!
