But what we’ve learned is that when you are reaching (stretching) away from your body, your body’s stretch reflex kicks in to bring you back. Your body will let you know how far to go before that reflex kicks in. When the reflex kicks in, it’s like putting on the gas and the brake at the same time. When you let go of the stretch, the muscle will spring back to it’s original position. Sometimes that original muscle gets even tighter.
