We are just about half way through the T-Tapp 60 Day Challenge! How are you doing with it? I don’t mean how many inches have you lost. I mean how are YOU doing with it?
If you’d like a few secrets I’ve learned about how to finish strong…I’ve got 6 big ones. I know you are probably thinking…”Renee, you already let us know this is YOUR first Challenge. So who are you to give us the secrets to winning?”
I’m the perfect person to help you because, even though I’ve never done it before, I”ve helped hundreds of women do the Challenge and many of them have won in their category. But for me…thats’ not the only big win. Winning begins with simply making the commitment to join! Taking action, staying present with the process and finishing! These can be the biggest win!
I am still committed! I am watching where I’m not being true to myself (yes you might have seen a post or two from me after 10:00 pm!) and where I am. I am taking these 6 secrets into my own Challenge.
Here we go…
Secret One – Revisit your “why”! Why did you commit to doing this Challenge? What was it you wanted to gain from doing it? Go back and connect again with those reasons. Create a visual image of what it will look like when you get it. When you get discouraged…stop and see that picture you created in your mind. Sit with that visualization and watch yourself in that movie. Stick with it until you absolutely feel it. This is how you will work with your subconscious to manifest your desire.
Secret Two – Get honest with yourself! If you are rationalizing things you know really aren’t true but stick with it as a way to not deal with it…get honest about it. Here’s an example of this…”Teresa says you don’t need to diet. You can just T-Tapp and melt away.” So you continue to eat a lot of processed food, drink your soda, eat driving through…but you aren’t losing inches. If this is you, you might want to get honest with yourself. Maybe some people can lose inches and still eat like that but the truth is…it’s not working for ya!
This doesn’t mean you need to go on a big starvation diet, but you might consider cleaning up your nutrition. See where it will be “do-able” to substitute the processed foods with whole foods, limit the sugar and make sure you stay hydrated with clean water. You might be very surprised at all the benefits you get from even small changes.
Here’s another place you want to get honest with yourself. If you are having great inch loss success already, it’s easy to get excited and then sabotage yourself and stop doing the workout consistently. On the other hand, you might be doing the workout consistently and feeling good about it but when you measure, you find you haven’t lost the number of inches you think you “should” have lost. Then you get all discouraged and wonder “why bother? Nothing ever works for me!”
STOP THE INSANITY! If you are being consistent and true to your commitment, that is all you can control. That is success! The body will respond in it’s own time. Just stay consistent and don’t ride the waves of emotion. All that will do is create stress which creates belly fat…but more about that later.
Can you say VARIETY???? Thank goodness we have the opportunity to use any of the T-Tapp workouts we want during this Challenge. Some of you might prefer to just stick with one workout. Be careful with doing that. It can be easy to get bored and stop listening to all the cues to activate muscles…You hear Teresa saying “Knees out…” but you stop listening. So you go through the workout without a lot of brain/body connection. You’ll tend to rush through so you can check it off your “to do” list and move on with your day.
Instead…mix up your workouts. This can help keep your head in the game and it has the added benefit of keeping your muscles challenged with the variety. If your results have stalled, you might want to consider changing to a different workout. Most of us think we need to do more or do it more often. Instead try mixing it up. Maybe doing a standing workout one day, a floor workout the next time you work out, maybe put in a more aerobic stepping workout…
Secret Four – It’s a 6 letter word…STRESS!!!! Are you feeling more stressed because you want to do well in this Challenge? Are you over-doing it? Stress is such a killer. Here’s an interesting stress cascade…Get stressed – cortisol goes up – that causes a spike in blood sugar (if you want to see the huge impact stress has on your blood sugar, get a glucometer and start checking your blood sugar. You will be blown away!) – insulin goes up – this causes you to be hungry and crave carbs! You eat the carbs, feel better for about and hour and crash back down.
This is why we eat when we get stressed out. Stop the cycle! How? Stop sweating the small stuff! Sounds so simple. Secret Five – Fit fitness into your day! T-Tapp isn’t just for the 30 minutes we are “doing our workout”. It’s for learning how to fit fitness into our day everyday. “Ribs up” constantly, press pinkies again your legs to lift ribs, I press on my kitchen counter to lift ribs. Going shopping? Underhand the shopping cart. Standing in line? Toes forward, bend knees, tuck tushie…
How about doing your own hoe down show down? Can you do 3 or more sets of hoe downs at a time? See if you can do 5 sets at a time after dinner while watching TV? I also keep the youtube video of Teresa doing Uptown Hoe Downs up on my computer and do it constantly throughout the day. You will not believe how that can whittle your middle and your thighs!
Secret Six – Improve your form. You were waiting for this, weren’t you? There is no such thing as “perfect form”! But the better your form is…the better results you’ll get. That is just the truth of it! If you’ve been doing T-Tapp for a while and you’ve never gotten the results you are looking for…you might consider scheduling a personal training session online with me.
