Have you hit a period in your life where all of a sudden, you feel like your body is betraying you? Are you gaining weight, getting fuzzy brain and a fluffy body and what used to work no longer does?
Welcome to our society where we are overworked, overwhelmed and toxic!!! I just read a study that showed we are exposed to (modestly) over 700,000 chemicals EVERY DAY!!!! I don’t want to go down that road of negativity and fear. If you want more information about this, a quick google search will give you months worth of reading.
But the bottom line is…our incredible bodies can only handle so much and when it reaches it’s max, it basically grinds metabolically to a halt!
Our poor liver just can’t keep up with it all. Our lymphatic system becomes like molasses and it gets congested, our digestive system hasn’t worked well for years, our kidneys aren’t as efficient, our adrenals are tired and our thyroid isn’t happy.
What’s a girl to do?
A trip to your local Functional Doctor or Naturopath is definitely called for. You need to know exactly what is going on with you. It’s really important you get with a professional who knows what they are doing and can support you the whole way.
I am not going to give you a complete protocol because these must be customized for each person. What am going to do is share with you 5 simple easy steps you can take each day to naturally support your body in it’s detox.
Check out my video for much more detail on these 5 simple easy steps to naturally detox your body!
Step 1– Begin your day with 12 -16 ounces of warm water with ½ lemon squeezed into it. Don’t use reconstituted lemon or lemon essential oil. Use ½ of a real, hopefully organic lemon. This will help your poor, tired liver do a gentle cleanse from all it’s over night work and will help to alkalize you. It’s also helpful if you are prone to gout and/or kidney stones.
Step 2 – Eat lots of veggies. Preferably organic when you can. The benefits of eating a lot of veggies are simple too many to even detail. When we are looking at supporting our body in doing it’s daily detox, veggies are our best friends. The phytonutrients, antioxidants and fiber are powerful allies and eating a large amount and variety of them will give you a great jump start.
I’m not going to give you any more rules about this. Eat them raw, steamed, roasted, blended.
How many? There is no “one size fits all” here so I hesitate to give a prescription for everyone to follow. There are two things I can say…no matter how many you are eating…you can eat one more. NOTE: a serving of vegetables doesn’t include ketchup and French fries. Did you know those are the most eaten “vegetables” in America. Which might have something to do with why so many of us are feeling lousy. Just saying…
Step 3 – Include a cup or two of herbal tea. I LOVE everyday detox tea. It has been formulated to include some of the powerful herbs for support and gentle detoxing the liver. It comes in regular and one with lemon myrtle. How easy is this? It’s already formulated for you and I happen to really love the taste. When should you drink it? When ever you will! You don’t want to drink it with a meal but anytime other than that works great!
Step 4 – Make sure you are eliminating DAILY and preferably more than once. I love Sculpt and Cleanse. This is a wonderful, effective product from the company that gives us Amino Sculpt. It is formulated to help you gently detox your intestinal system. I have found it to be the best product for this that I’ve ever used. It is effective and it’s gentle. This isn’t the kind of “cleanse” that has you afraid to leave the house. LOL!!! Remember…you want to be drinking your water throughout the day. Infuse it with fruits and herbs if that’s what it takes to get it in!
Step 5– MOVE! Movement and deep breathing help keep your lymphatic and elimination system pumping. Once you help your liver start to eliminate some of the toxic crap (this is the technical term for it ) it’s holding on to, you want to keep it moving out of the body and gentle movement is one great way to do this.
Great ways to move? I love doing the T-Tapp Workout. It is VERY lymphatic and the pumping moves are built into the workout. Do Hoe Downs all throughout the day to keep your lymph pumped and your circulation primed.
Walking is wonderful because it too pumps the lymph. It also helps with circulation and elimination.
Last way is by rebounding. Most people think you have to jump up and down to get a lymphatic benefit. But that’s actually not the case. All you have to do is lift your heels up and down. You will be amazed at how you can actually feel this starting to drain even under your arms and in your neck. I love to do this a few times a day, especially after I’ve been sitting for any period of time. I might also do some arm pumping movement but it’s really not necessary. Put your rebounder where your TV is and instead of sitting, get on it an do some heal lifts.
There you have it. 5 simple easy steps you can do naturally support your body detox systems but in a gentle way. These are simple!!! You can do them.
NOTE: Please don’t underestimate the amount of toxicity we have accumulated in our body. Keep in mind that many of these toxins are stored in our fat cells. Our bodies are so intelligent and it doesn’t want to kill us so it holds on to that fat to keep us from auto-intoxicating ourself. It’s one of the reasons it’s so hard to lose weight now. But if you try extreme diets and cleanses, it will let go of some fat and those toxins will go along for that ride. It can make you very sick!
Please make sure to get the support of health professionals who are experienced in detoxification. If you don’t have someone, I’d recommend my friend and fellow T-Tapper Venus DeMarco. Venus healed herself from breast cancer and did it all naturally using very specific detoxing protocols and a lot of heart and laughter. She can coach you through you own detox program.
