Lose weight During the Holidays With these 7 Tips!

 

Do you typically gain weight over the holidays?  Thinking you’ll just eat and drink whatever you want and start your new diet after the new year?

New Years resolutions would be fine if they worked.  But they only encourage “light bulb thinking” when it comes to your weight loss and health. 

“Light bulb thinking” is being ON your diet when you are being “perfect’.  But the minute you take a bite or two of something that isn’t on your list of approved foods, you are instantly OFF your diet.  Might as well eat everything you want since you’ve already blown it!  This creates the yo-yo effect and has dangerous health consequences.

This year, let’s not go there again.  Instead, put together a holiday survival plan and stick to the plan.

7 Tips!

  1. Make the decision to stay in control over your eating and drinking and then write down your plan.
  2. Keep to your “every 2 – 3 hour” fueling schedule.  If you are going to a party, make sure to fuel before you go so you aren’t hungry when you get there.
  3. Use small party plates when available and move away from the food table. 
  4. Stay mindful!!!  Don’t allow yourself to slip into that mindless hand to mouth nibbling that can add up to hundreds of calories before you know it. 
  5. Eat slowly and chew,chew,chew!
  6. Have a plan for how you are going to deal with saboteurs.
  7. Remember to enjoy the holidays and give thanks for all the blessings in your life.
